I am so excited to be returning to teach at PLA! I homeschooled my children for 18 years, and we were blessed to have additional educational support through PLA classes. I enjoyed teaching choir and drama for several years in the earlier days of PLA. I am now homeschooling my son, who is special needs, and using all my educational training to help him succeed academically.
I have a Bachelor’s in Music Performance from Belmont University (1997) , and also 5 years of previous study at Southwest Baptist University in Music Performance and Music Education. I have worked for all the major Christian recording labels as a background singer on multiple choral projects. I lead worship, choirs, and have been actively performing locally in the Smyrna community for 21 years. I am currently the Music Director at Green Hill Baptist Church in Murfreesboro.
For 30 years, I have taught music, creative arts, and have spent countless hours with middle school, high school and college ministries. I have a private music studio in Smyrna and teach voice and piano.
This past year at PLA, I was thrilled to see the progress in our K-1st classes. Our Culinary Arts class made everything from fried apples to fresh pasta and also had a cupcake fundraiser for a local ministry.
I have a passion for helping young people discover their gifts and want to encourage them to nurture a joy for learning that will carry them throughout life. Much of who I am today has to do with the faithfulness of those who joyfully taught me about the Lord through children and youth ministries.
