I am a homeschool graduate and current college honor student majoring in English and minoring in Spanish. I live in Smyrna and am active in Fellowship Bible Church's ministry and am a small group leader in their middle and high school student ministry.
I hold a black belt in Isshinryu karate, which I have studied for 15 years. I've competed in many tournaments and have won several national IIKA titles. Part of my own training includes regular teaching of students in our local dojo.
I'm excited to work with students in establishing a regular fitness and training routine. Course description - This course will provide middle and high school students with a physical education credit while also teaching them fundamental self-defense techniques. Throughout the semester, students will learn standard Isshinryu techniques and practices, as well as how to improve balance and coordination. Classes will start out with a short warm-up period of basic exercises, and then move on to applied technique practice, with occasional light sparring. Students will be expected to memorize and demonstrate basic terms and techniques, as well as keep an activity log to track their practice each week.
